I’m home! Aren’t you thrilled to learn I made it home in one piece?

As if there was any doubt, right? It’s not like some hot gay stud would kidnap me and lock me up in his smut-writing dungeon.

So I don’t really have a ton to report. Roanoke’s Pride in the Park was fun, as usual. There was a little doubt as to whether this year’s event would be doable after I woke up this morning and discovered it was calling for rain all day - but we got lucky. Although the sky spilled a nasty, misty rain until about noon, it cleared up shortly thereafter and people came out to see and be seen.

JM Snyder, Vincent Diamond, and I had a great day. As usual, I dragged my husband along and made him do all the heavy lifting; I’m mean that way. But he got a nice ego-stroke from all the men who cruised him and I sold some books, so it was a nice trade.

Andy Eisenberg, Marguerite Labbe, and Beth Wylde had a table at the event as well, so I got to meet some more local-ish authors — all of whom were very sweet.

I had a blast in DC this past weekend with Beth Wylde. She and I set up at The Crucible’s Leather Fleamarket, along with author DL King.

After fighting crazy traffic, Beth and I arrived in DC Friday evening. We visited the club and set up some and then spent the rest of the evening hanging out next door, at Zeigfelds. There we watched an awesome drag show and snuck a peek at the all-male review upstairs, where naked go-go boys were strutting their stuff.

On Saturday we set up at the fleamarket and sold some books. We met a ton of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. That evening we dolled ourselves up and went back for the club’s famous Play Party. Let me tell you, I saw things that night that I’ll never forget.

On Sunday we dragged our tired butts out of bed and started the long journey home. All together, I’d have to say it was an awesome weekend. Did you miss me?

So, I’m back from Kansas and Carol Lynne’s author/reader weekend. Actually, I returned home yesterday evening, but I was too brain dead to post anything. I had such a fabulous time that I don’t even know where to begin. Since we didn’t arrive until late Friday, we missed the cookout, but then I got to spend all day Saturday gabbing with the group and just hanging out. The highlights of Saturday included lunch and a movie (we went to see The Proposal) and dinner at Carol’s house. Suffice to say, everyone was very sweet and lovely. I’m sure my pictures don’t do any of them justice.

I’m going to upload a few pictures here, but the brunt of them will be posted on my yahoo group (and Carol’s group, of course).

I’m home from Pride, and exhausted. Vincent Diamond and I has a great time and met tons of fabulous people.

It was a super fun day, and the parade was awesome. I have a ton of pictures to share, but they won’t all fit here. I’ll select a few of the best to share here and then the rest will be available via my yahoo group and myspace albums.

I’m a little ashamed to admit I didn’t have a lot of time to wander around Pride and snap photos. I spent most of the day in the booth I shared with author Vincent Diamond, talking to people and pimping books.
