FW from Elisa Rolle:
Hi,
I know that this didn’t directly affect you, but I thought that maybe you can
be interested in knowing what happened on LiveJournal in the last month. I
posted about it:
http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/976175.html
In few words, LiveJournal for the past month had an hidden code that hijacked
all out clicks to 150 website (included Amazon and Ebay) with Associate
Programs to compute the Referral Fees to the same and only Associate ID,
probably a LiveJournal’s Associate ID.
I’m posting this on various other blogs, since I really didn’t like the “No
Answer” policy of LJ, even after they admitted, in other blogs, that indeed,
the code was redirecting fees to them.
I was then also told from someone that in pretending an official apology from
LJ, I’m proving that I’m an insecure person. So, no, I don’t believe to be
someone important, but I do believe that with my reviews I’m helping people
chosing what they want to read, and I really HATE to not being able to see
where people went after leaving my LJ in the past month.
Plus as I said in the post I use the money from the Referral Fees to buy other
books, mainly new authors and all in the LGBT community, to read, review and
promote, so I hope to being helping also that community. I really don’t like
that someone is saying I’m insecure only since I want an apology from LJ, who
stole my Referral Fees. So I’m asking to my friends or author I know and
contacted in the past:
Can you repost something about it in your blogs? Even only the link to that
post, or a brief summary of what happened. If you do that, can you comment
there with the link to the blog you posted? Can you tell other people to do
that?
I’d like to see how many people think than I’m not an insecure person, and
that it’s not so odd to want an apology from someone who stole my Referral
Fees, Referral Fees that probably my friends make me gain, and that I spend to
buy other books, so, indirectly, they stole the money also from you, as readers
and authors.
And as many of you know, I post once a month the Referrals Program summary,
where I list and post the buying links of the books who had more out clicks in
the past month, so that people know what is the trend in reading habit.
Obviously, the last month this report was totally affected by the issue above,
I really don’t know where people went leaving my LJ page.
Thank you, Elisa Rolle
