Pyromancer is now available in print!

September 29th, 2009 by Amanda Young

One desperate night, a rent boy hot enough to scorch the motel sheets, and Christian is doomed to burn for love.

Christian Ryder is rich and lonely. When the people around him keep dying, Christian forgoes personal attachments. The thought of his Pyromancy hurting anyone else, isn’t something he’s willing to risk.

Tanner O’Bannon is broke and desperate. The recent loss of his father has thrown Tanner into a tailspin of debt he can’t afford to pay. Working as a rent boy allows him to pay the mortgage and his college tuition, but it’s eroding his soul in the process.

Through the machinations of Male Companions — the escort agency for which Tanner works — the men are thrown together. Through a series of startling revelations and danger, Tanner and Christian both face changes. Smoldering embers of desire fan the flames of love, but will it be enough to make Christian overcome his fear of love, or to save Tanner from the fire? Only one thing is certain; both men will burn.

Report from Pridefest

September 28th, 2009 by Amanda Young

logo-small.jpgSeptember 26th was spent in Durham, North Carolina at the 25th annual Pridefest. It was held on the east campus of Duke University, which always brings out droves of students - or at least it seems that way. There were a ton of young people out and about this past Saturday. In Pride event actually seemed a bit larger to me compared to last year. Although there haven’t been any number reported, I’d hazard a guess and say there were five or six thousand people there.

I was lucky enough to share a table with Vincent Diamond and Beth Wylde for the event. My hubby came along to help out with the tent and show support.

Unfortunately, the rain didn’t want to let us stay and play for long. We were lucky enough to be there that morning and through the afternoon for the parade, but shortly thereafter it started raining. When it showed no signs of abating, we packed up and headed home around four thirty.

TGIF Interview… Dakota Trace

September 25th, 2009 by Amanda Young

Hello, hello. This week’s guest author is Dakota Trace. Thanks for answering my nosy questions Dakota!

Q: To start, please tell us which genre you write in, and why…
A: I write in several actually. Most of my published work is erotic romance but I also have a paranormal erotic book published and my first erotic sci-fantasy book will come out in June. I hate to limit myself to one genre. I love to write anything that has a decent plot line and lots of sizzling sex. Plus I’m a romantic so all of my work has the happily ever.

Q: How long did you write before you received your first contract for publication?
A: I got the writer’s bug when I took my first creative writing class as a junior in high school. I’ve been seriously writing since 2006 and am happy to say that I got my first contract last June.

Q: So, if you don’t mind sharing, would you tell us about your latest work in progress?
A: I’m working on a new story and a new genre. It’s called Nisey’s Awakening and in a new genre for me. It’ll be my first stab at a BDSM book. Here’s a blurb about it.

When a would be Dom takes advantage of Nisey’s inexperience she is left bewildered and at odds with her own sexuality. Now scared of what she longs for she tries to hide from it until her best friend, Kalinda has had enough of waking to Nisey’s screams and takes matters into her own hands and contacts her older brother, Caelan. She’s had enough and wants her best friend back and thinks Caelan is the perfect man to guide Nisey back to what she longs for without traumatizing her friend any further.

Caelan is an experienced Dom, who has trained many first time subs in during his time in the lifestyle but as of late he’s settled into a comfortable but barely satisfying routine of experienced subs he’s met during his visits to the local clubs. When his sister calls out of the blue with a request that he help her friend, he is intrigued. After meeting Nisey, he’s captivated and his intense urge to train the beautifully submissive Nisey rages through him. But the question is once, he trains her to his desires and shows her how well he can satisfy hers, will she stay with him?

Nisey will have to decide if she wants to go back to her former Dom, take her new found knowledge and find a new Dom to bestow Caelan’s gifts upon or stay with Caelan.

Will Caelan have the willpower to let her go, knowing she may not choose him?

Q: Out of all the stories you’ve written, which is your favorite?
A: I would have to say The Mating of Rebekah. It was my first paranormal book published. Rebekah is a strong female character and is more than capable of standing up to her stubborn mates. Throw in a bit of ancient Greek mythology and the fact that Rebekah who is a servant of Diana, the goddess of hunt and was gifted with an inner huntress to protect her goddess both makes her a strong and hot blooded female. Hey, she’s even willing to take on Pluto, god of the underworld to keep Jase and Dustin, her mates.

Q: Do you need to be in a specific place or atmosphere before the words flow?
A: I would love to say that I need absolute peace and quiet with aromatic candles but in reality I’m a hard working mother and more often than not I get interrupted if not by one of my kids, then all three of them. I will say my most creative time is at night after they go to bed. Usually then it’s me reclining on the loveseat with my laptop and my husband on the couch watching the history channel.

Q: What’s the strangest source of inspiration you’ve found for a story?
A: I would have to say my 9 to 5 job. I actually wrote an erotic romance about a female fork lift driver. When I started my current job they trained me to drive powered industrial trucks, which to most lay people are forklifts, reach trucks and order pickers. Not the most romantic job in the world to say the least.

Q: If you could offer one tidbit of information for new writers, what would it be?
A: Don’t get upset the first time you get your edits back. The editor’s job is to slash apart your story, and help you, the author, put it back together, making it stronger than original ever could be.

Q: Do you have an evil day job or do you write full time?
A: In my case it’s an evil night job. I work the overnight shift at a high end clothing company. I am technically called a ‘stock control processor’. Imagine what a Wal-mart or Kmart stocker does and add in driving expensive forklifts and that’s my job in a nutshell. They’ve trained me to drive forklifts and a transtacker crane to pull merchandise out of the high bay reserve. Then I put it way. Very physical work but not very stimulating. But at least it keeps me in shape. Lifting boxes all night will do that for you.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: I like to read. I like to say I’m a read-aholic. I usually read 3 to 5 books a week along with my writing. I review for Dark Divas Reviews to help with my reading habit. Plus I love to cook and crochet. Thanks Grandma for teaching me how…lol.

Q: Name one thing readers would be surprised to learn about you.
A: I guess I’d have to say I’m a procrastinator. I wait til the last minute to do everything. I guess I perform better under pressure.

Q: What’s your favorite dirty word?
A: Hmm, that’s hard to say. I have expressions that I like to use but not any particular words. “Come for me,” is probably one of my favorites, along with “let go, don’t fight it.”

Q: What’s your favorite holiday, and why?
A: I’d have to say Thanksgiving. I absolutely love being with my family and cooking for them. Plus it doesn’t have all the commercial trappings of Christmas. Just good food and good company.

Q: Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
A: Yes to both. I have several dragon tattoos on my body and I should blush when I say this but I have both nipples pierced and my sister just dragged me in for my birthday and had my navel pierced.

Q: If you could be intimate with three people (not necessarily all at one time *g*) without getting in trouble with your significant other, who would they be?
A: Oh that’s an easy one. Sean Connery is at the top of my list. I’m a sucker for older men, and he’s so yummy. It’s the accent, it gets me every time. Then I’d have to say it would be a tossup between Hugh Jackman and Antonio Bandaras.

Q: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want with you?
A: Pepsi, my vibrator and a case of chocolate. Caffeine, sex and chocolate…can’t beat that.

Q: If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you spend the money on?
A: Pay my bills off and then spoil my husband and kids.

Q: Which household chore do you abhor and why?
A: I’d have to say dishes. With five of us they never seem to be done. Laundry rates a close second.

Q: What’s your favorite comfort food?
A: Cold Cereal and it doesn’t matter what kind. I am partial to Fruit Loops and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Q: Do you have any guilty pleasures you feel comfortable sharing?
A: Long, hot and steamy showers. I always let the hubby shower first or I use up all the hot water.

Q: Do you have a favorite book or movie?
A: I love the Shawshank Redemption. Then again it has to do with the voice. I love Morgan Freeman’s narration in that movie.

Q: In closing, tell us a bit about your latest release (& share a yummy excerpt for those who aren’t yet familiar with your work)
A: My latest release is called Trust. Remember the story I said was inspired by my 9 to 5 job? That’s the end result of it. Here’s a blurb and excerpt for it.

trustweb.jpg

When Leighann Wilson starts a new job, she is thrilled to meet her trainer, Jason Adair. He’s sexy and confident and makes her realize the difference between being confident and demanding. When her relationship with her current boyfriend ends explosively, Leighann retreats and shies away from Jason.
Giving Leighann time and patience is hard but Jason knows what he wants and is willing to wait for Leighann. When her ex shows up and assaults her in hopes of having her drop her testimony. Jason moves in with her. Now is the question is will Leighann give into her attraction to him?

Excerpt: (Adult content)

Leighann heard the shower turn on and she was just about to investigate when her cell phone rang. Glancing at the display, she saw it was Gloria.
“Hey.”
“I won’t be home tonight, girl. I met this absolutely dreamy guy down at Antonio’s.” A giggle escaped her and Leighann could hear the dark murmurs of man’s voice begging Gloria to hurry up.
“Okay.”
“Jason’s still there isn’t he…Frank, quit. I have to talk to her, then we’ll go…please tell me he’s still there.”
“He’s here, go have fun and I’ll see you tomorrow.” Ending the call, she again heard the shower. Why is he showering now, I thought he was going to bed? Wait, duh, what am I thinking ,cold showers alleviate hard-ons.
The thought aroused her, and not just a little. The thought of him in her shower stroking his erection he got because he was thinking about her. Before she could lose her courage, she was up, down the hall, and tightening her hand on the bathroom door knob. Do I dare do this? Will I be able to resist climbing into the shower with him if he’s doing what I think he’s doing? Will opening this door put us in a relationship? She reluctantly released the knob and made her way back down the hall to her room.
* * * *
Jason braced one arm against the tile of the shower as his fist flew up and down his cock. The soap slickened flesh between his thighs had become a throbbing wound which needed release. Even the soap he was using reminded him of her. As the need for release grew in his balls, his breath came faster and he couldn’t help but think about her, imagining her in here with him, watching his every move and licking those tempting lips.
“Minx!” His muffled growl was followed by his release. He sagged against the wall of the shower as his temporarily sated cock softened. Damn, this has got to stop. I’ve never jerked off as much as I have this last week. Hopefully, she’ll see the light soon and give in.

Don’t Look Back is available in print

September 24th, 2009 by Amanda Young

dontlookback_med.jpg

Walking away from the world’s oldest profession was the easiest thing Cyndi Whitmore ever did. After five long years of selling her body to men, she vowed never to look back. Now, eighteen months later, her former `friends’ are turning up dead and all fingers point to her as the murderer.

As if being framed isn’t bad enough, her sudden attraction to the deputy working the “hooker murders” has her head spinning with confusion. Conditioned to be suspicious of the law, Cyndi finds herself torn between heart and mind when the sexy deputy is interested in her as more than just a suspect. If she has any hope of clearing her name, Cyndi knows she must overcome her fear and trust the only person willing to believe in her innocence.

Deputy Braden Andrews never expected to be dealt the task of catching a serial killer when he accepted the deputy sheriff’s position in his small Nevada town. Nor did he expected his prime suspect to be a beautiful, alluring woman with a checkered past and secrets to hide. Braden works to gain her trust in an attempt to pump her for information, knowing that she holds something important about the case. Instead, he falls hard for the auburn beauty. Despite his growing love for her, he quickly realizes there’s a better than average chance she’s being framed, but can he prove Cyndi’s innocence before the killer strikes again?

Pride in the Park…

September 21st, 2009 by Amanda Young

I’m home! Aren’t you thrilled to learn I made it home in one piece?

As if there was any doubt, right? It’s not like some hot gay stud would kidnap me and lock me up in his smut-writing dungeon. :D

So I don’t really have a ton to report. Roanoke’s Pride in the Park was fun, as usual. There was a little doubt as to whether this year’s event would be doable after I woke up this morning and discovered it was calling for rain all day - but we got lucky. Although the sky spilled a nasty, misty rain until about noon, it cleared up shortly thereafter and people came out to see and be seen.

JM Snyder, Vincent Diamond, and I had a great day. As usual, I dragged my husband along and made him do all the heavy lifting; I’m mean that way. But he got a nice ego-stroke from all the men who cruised him and I sold some books, so it was a nice trade. :D

Andy Eisenberg, Marguerite Labbe, and Beth Wylde had a table at the event as well, so I got to meet some more local-ish authors — all of whom were very sweet.

Below are a couple of pictures for you. The rest can be found on my yahoo group, as usual. :D

From left to right: Andy Eisenberg, Marguerite Labbe, and Beth Wylde. While we didn’t all share a table, it was lovely to have some extra author company at Pride this year.

From left to right: JM Snyder, Vincent Diamond, John (my hubby), and me. Check out the ‘fro I was sporting. Rain + curly hair = disaster.
