This whole situation really just broke my heart. A myspace member sent me this clip from Ellen, and I was too touched not to share it. I think we all need to take a long look at yourselves and what kind of message we’re sending to our children.
Update: I can’t seem to get the clip to embed for some reason. At least, it isn’t showing up for me. So here’s the link to go to youtube and view the clip. http://www.youtube.com/v/QcMEL3_YsVI

That is so very sad. I once had a friend in high school who was a closet gay because she was afraid of what people would think. She never even told me and we were best friends at the time.
I never judged her, though others did and she’s taken a lot of abuse over the years. Even her own family turned their backs on her.
We’re no longer friends now, but our fall out had nothing to do with her being a lesbian and everything to do with her own bias and opinionated ways on another subject. But even though we’re not friends anymore, I still remember the hell she went through as a teenager. It’s a shame to know that kind of stuff is still happening.
